The Premier Cognitive Story
Premier began with Dr. Lynn Puana asking a question that would ultimately change the direction of her career:
What if mental healthcare stopped simply managing symptoms and started investigating their root causes?
Dr. Puana came from a traditional medical background. Like many physicians, she was taught to prescribe medications by the book and manage symptoms as they appeared. But she began to recognize how often mental health was approached through diagnosis and medication alone, without investigating the deeper factors affecting each patient.
She saw people doing everything they had been told to do—yet still not feeling like themselves.
That limitation stayed with her. Instead of accepting it as the threshold of medicine, Dr. Puana started looking further. Her curiosity led her into neuroscience, precision medicine, peptides, psychedelic therapies, and other emerging treatments that approached healing from an entirely different perspective.
At first, she was skeptical. How could plants and other unconventional approaches offer something that years of traditional medical training had not?
That question was answered through her own experiences with psychedelics and neurofeedback.
"I have never felt calmer in my life. It was a life-altering experience," Dr. Puana recalled after completing her training.
That experience ignited a passion—and a mission to bring two seemingly different worlds together: the clinical knowledge and safety of traditional medicine with the humanity and innovation of treatments once considered untraditional.
That vision became the Premier Integrative & Cognitive Medical Institute.
Today, Premier is brought to life by a team of medical providers, neuroscience professionals, facilitators, and care coordinators who share one belief: your symptoms are part of your story, but they are not the whole story.
We take the time to ask better questions, examine what may be happening beneath the surface, and understand each patient as a whole person, not a diagnosis. Using medical insight, advanced assessments, and highly personalized care, we create treatment plans that may incorporate psychedelic medicine, neurofeedback, peptides, cognitive testing, and precision medicine.
Our team is curious, collaborative, and never satisfied with a one-size-fits-all answer. We bring different areas of expertise to the same table because the most meaningful breakthroughs often happen when medicine stops operating in separate boxes.
Premier is not purely traditional medicine, and it is not simply alternative medicine. It is something new: a thoughtful, physician-led integration of science, innovation, and human connection.
Because we believe people deserve more than temporary relief.
They deserve to get themselves back.
